The DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force is equipped with the necessary tools and resources to conduct its investigations anywhere in the county. The Task Force also works closely with various civilian and private organizations that add tools and capabilities to the team.

The Task Force has the ability to deploy accelerant detecting canine (K9) units to it's scenes. These canines are an important and highly valued resource for fire investigations. These highly trained dogs come from local law enforcement agencies and the State Fire Marshall’s Office.

The Task Force is comprised of highly trained and dedicated law enforcement officers, arson investigators, fire department personnel and civilian experts such as electricians that stand ready to answer calls any day or time of the week all year round.

The DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force was established in 1999 to assist local municipalities in processing & investigating significant fires of questionable origin. The Task Force is comprised of Federal, State & Local investigators from 36 fire service & law enforcement agencies in DuPage County. Teams of Task Force investigators are available to respond to assist in origin and cause investigations. Task Force resources include: ATF, FBI, DuPage County Sheriff's Office Forensic Investigations Unit, Hazardous Devices Unit, Crime Laboratory, Office of the State Fire Marshal, DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, accelerant detection K-9s, electrical engineers, and demolition & shoring.
